Dec. 5th, 2008 @ 07:50 pm Promoting my upcoming book
Update - My book is now available for purchase through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. You can also get it directly from my publisher's online bookstore. Links are on my website.

Hey everyone! First, I'd just like to say that I'm new here. I'm from NJ and I'm posting to promote my upcoming book. Any published author will tell you that self-promoting is important. Anyway, my book is a supernatural erotica romance novel entitled A Rose to the Fallen...and it's my first book. I opted for self-publishing through Author House and my book should be released in early 2009. I don't know how many of you know about self-publishing, but I recommend it if you have a finished manuscript, you want to have it published, and you're having a hard time landing a deal with a publishing company. I'm not sure of the exact date of my book release yet, but I've included a sneak peek of chapter 1 on my site. If the story catches your interest, keep checking my site for the latest updates on the release and all other related news. Clickety-click the banner.

Whoa! Really?!? Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Good or bad review, I don't care. A review is a review. I know some people will like my book and some won't. I just want people to read it. If they like it, that's just a bonus for me. :D

Hi HM. Sure, I'll be glad you help you. Well, I did self-publishing through Author House. It costs money to publish this way. Author House has publishing packages you can look at. Here is the link: http://www.authorhouse.com/servicesstore/ChoosePackage.asp

After I did some research...I found Author House to be one of the best self-publishing companies. I also looked at BookSurge, Lulu, and Xlibris before I made my decision. I downloaded Author House's free publishing guide first which is here: http://www.authorhouse.com/ContactUs/Publish.aspx

Then they contacted me and we spoke about what I wanted to accomplish. We also spoke about my novel. They also have payment plans where you can make 4 installments so you don't have to pay the full amount right away.

But if you'd rather not self-publish, you can hire an agent and try to get your manuscript sold to a publisher. I didn't go that route because I wanted guaranteed publishing. When you go through an agent, there's no guarantee your manuscript will be sold and someone will publish your novel.

Good luck with your publishing adventure! :D

^__^ thanx so much, april. I think the probelm with me is that I am too scared to put my material at risk of the wrong exposure. I want it to be public but yet I'm scared that something unfortunate might happen to it (the ideas would be stlen, it would be forged, etc..).
but anyway, thanks for the info, this helps alot. at least now I know where to start and how the full process works :]
